Director of Talent & Culture

Functioning in a generalist capacity, the Director of Talent will provide the employees of Big Spaceship with support, focusing primarily with a hands-on approach to Talent Management. The Director of Talent role is a foundational-building role that affords key learnings to determine the expansion and growth of this new team within the organization. This person will be instrumental in identifying the structure and needs of the Talent team at Big Spaceship.

 

This role will involve programs and development of Talent + HR processes that mirror the employee life cycle: Talent Acquisition / Recruitment, Onboarding, Retention / Development, and Exit. Overall, The Director of Talent will support the everyday business function. This person will participate in the development of Big Spaceship’s plans and programs as a strategic partner but particularly from the perspective of the impact on our people.

 

TALENT ACQUISITION

  • Design and implement an overall recruitment strategy
  • Search for exceptional talent both within the advertising industry and other innovative + strategic approaches
  • Set and implement diversity and inclusion goals and priorities for the year and champion those initiatives
  • Manage candidates through the recruitment process; act as the connector between candidates and BSS, schedule interviews, grab feedback, extend and negotiate offers, and provide timely responses to all rejected applicants. Overall, keep the momentum going
  • Build a strong proactive candidate talent pipeline; Prep and post jobs to appropriate job boards / sites / colleges, etc., network through industry contacts, memberships, employees + recruitment events
  • Identify and coordinate college recruiting initiatives
  • Provide regular status updates to the management team + hiring managers of open positions and recruitment status
  • Conduct regular follow up with hiring managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and approach
  • Report on talent acquisition metrics for the business. Translate these metrics into meaningful, actionable data that drive business decisions (Ie, Time to Fill, Offer Acceptance Rate, Source of Application, Source of Hire, etc.)
  • Lead new hires into the organization through a rigorous onboarding program. Work to refine and tweak the current process

 

LEARNING + DEVELOPMENT

  • Identify a tool suitable for administering performance reviews for the entire agency. Partner with the leaders of the organization to plan and implement a new review process.
  • Provide coaching, best practice resources, and ongoing development planning with the leadership team and people managers
  • Identify opportunities for learning and development programs for employees and set goals for the upcoming year

 

PEOPLE OPERATIONS + CULTURE

  • Streamline the approach to handling employee relations issues; act as a resource and sounding board for managers dealing with ER challenges
  • Partner, consult, and provide proactive solutions to managers on all talent and HR issues including retention, performance and communications
  • Share industry best practices in talent management to ensure we are constantly challenging ourselves to have industry leading standards
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization at all levels in order to be an effective listener and problem solver of department issues
  • Work with management team to maintain and develop the strong culture, driving a high level of engagement throughout the organization and ensure BSS’ core values are implemented throughout the organization
  • Manage staff responsible for compensation and benefits design/administration, HR systems, contractor management, compliance, reporting, visa administration, and overall HR process
  • Provide guidance to employees on all Talent/HR related policies and procedures
  • Assess the competitiveness of all programs and practices against comparable companies, industries and markets
