Product Manager

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Product Manager to take a key position at Big Spaceship. Big Spaceship is a digital agency in Brooklyn that brings together product design, brand communications and social content to help businesses thrive within the digital space. With a focus on a variety of projects and longer term engagements, the Product Manager must be comfortable managing clients as well as championing the ideas and vision of cross disciplinary BSS team collaborators.

The Product Manager is responsible for the planning, build and launch of high-profile, large scale digital product experiences. This role will balance the nurturing of creative thinking, innovation and ideation within the structures of time, budget and system capabilities.  Big Spaceship Product Managers are the owners of the Agile process, ensuring that work, questions, feedback and reviews are all managed cohesively in a sprint schedule.  They are in constant communication between the Big Spaceship internal teams and the client’s business, marketing and technology groups.


You must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • 5+ years experience developing consumer-facing digital products in an agency environment

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering digital products and services from concept through to execution and maintenance

  • Understanding of web development and product development processes

  • Proficiency with Jira (managing user stories, filtering, reporting)  

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, leadership, presentation and collaboration skills

  • Expert level understanding of agile project management methodologies – i.e. Scrum to lead dedicated, fast- paced, cross-disciplinary teams, and iterative product development

  • Coordinate and own agile rituals including stand-ups, sprint planning, release planning and retrospectives

  • Proven track record of working with multi disciplined teams across UX, Design, Analytics, Technology and Quality Assurance in fast paced environments

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Function as Scrum Master - leading daily scrums, workshares and sprint retrospectives

  • Maintenance of Product Backlog

  • Assist in creation of product roadmap and help define product vision, goals, functionality requirements

  • Manage sprint process and delivery - work with sprint team against sprint deadlines to reach the best possible version of a feature or product

  • Emphasis on user-driven product design

  • Think both creatively and strategically

  • Review project deliverables to ensure they align with product goals and business needs

  • Oversee annotations/specifications of designs

  • Manage and participate in QA and UAT
