Business Affairs Manager

We are looking for a rockstar Business Affairs Manager to take a key position on our team at Big Spaceship. Big Spaceship is an award-winning agency in Brooklyn that brings together communities, stories and systems to help businesses thrive. We are also a little weird, extremely collaborative and sometimes communicate entirely in gifs.

The Business Affairs Manager will work closely with the Big Spaceship Production, Finance, and Legal teams across our portfolio of business on all agency wide engagements to ensure we are adhering to industry guidelines. We are looking for someone with strong in-agency experience to build and lead the Business Affairs capability for Big Spaceship, while educating our teams on best practices along the way.

 

You Must Have

  • 5+ years of business affairs management within a creative advertising and marketing agency
  • Proven experience with SAG/AFTRA/AFM talent requirements and processes
  • Knowledge of film/video/digital production
  • Strong working knowledge of influencer outreach, negotiation and contracting
  • Understanding of copyright, trademark and network clearance procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, across multiple clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Interest to stay up-to-date on industry guidelines and standards
  • Motivated self-starter with the desire to build a capability from the ground-up

 

What You Will Do

  • Draft, negotiate and review a wide range of agreements relating to the production and licensing of digital video content, including agreements with production companies, talent, releases, usage rights and licenses for third-party assets (including stock photography / footage, music, intellectual property)
  • Knowledge of talent usage rights and management across a wide variety of production including but not limited to digital, print, broadcast and live events, union and non-union and standard SAG
  • Meticulously track and manage all third party material licenses
  • Partner with Producers on the triple bidding and production estimation processes, insurance coverage and production wrap-up
  • Access risks, provide solutions and advise on rights and clearances as it relates to Agency’s productions
  • Summarize and communicate deal points to production teams as needed
  • Work with client assigned cost consultants, when necessary
  • Manage and track the collection of production partner billing, approvals and invoices
  • Alert Legal and Finance teams of any important industry changes, as well as troubleshooting all releases and contracts
